Calendula
is an important addition to a healer's garden. The seeds germinate readily, or
plants can be easily propagated by dividing the roots. It has a pleasant,
sunshine taste, it's gentle enough for children and elders, and it has a host
of benefits. Plants can be bundled together and hung to dry or spread loosely
on screens or newspapers. Today, medicinal herbs are very popular.
If
the leaves are very dirty, they may be rinsed gently in cold water and dried
with paper towels, or spray with a garden hose the day before harvesting.
Ginger is used to ease nausea and motion sickness. Tools you may need are a
shovel for roots, scissors or a sharp pocketknife for tough-stemmed plants, and
a pruning saw to cut branches for barks. When it is taken daily as a part of
your regular routine, even in the form of a delicious tea, it can help to
reduce the severity of colds and the flu. The same herb can be used for
different benefits by altering the way of its use. In fact, lemon verbena is
best propagated from softwood stem cuttings rather than from the seeds.
Unfortunately, it will cloud your head and make you tired unlike most of the
other herbs we use. Sage seeds only take 10 days to a month to germinate.
Nettles acts as a pelvic decongestant and reduces an enlarged prostate.
Medicinal herbs have an amazing efficacy to allow the body to heal itself from
illness and prevent possible diseases by strengthening your bodies own healing
power. In case of renal insufficiency, one glass of nettle juice per day should
be consumed in the morning after waking up.
Although
nettle is generally considered to be safe and nontoxic, there are some side
effects associated with its improper use. One preliminary human study suggested
that nettle capsules helped reduce sneezing and itching in people with hay
fever. It reacts with certain medications and if you are taking any
medications, talk with your prescribing doctor beforehand. Long before the
discovery of modern medicine, crushed thyme was placed on bandages to promote
wound healing and ward off infection. Thyme, along with roses, was often added
to homes in the ancient past to provide a sweet-smelling aroma. The upper leaf
is green-grey in color on top, while the underside is a whitish color. A single
tree can live as long as 1,000 years and grow to a height of 120 feet. Many
herbs in daily life can be used as medicinal herbs.
